Quality E-Assist motors such as Bosch, Shimano, and EBO are a wonderful addition to a recumbent trike (if you want one). If it is simply a neat idea then I think it unwise to add the extra weight to my trike. I like to keep my trike as simple and lightweight as possible. It becomes a great addition however if I am having problems climbing hills, recovering from injury, rehabbing from surgery, or lagging behind the group that I enjoy riding with. There is however a huge difference in motors available.

The best "deal" is the motor that delivers many years of smooth, quiet, power to assist your riding enjoyment. A motor that does this is not the cheapest motor, but it is the best "deal" because it supplies the best value.
